I’ve always been intrigued by languages: all those elaborate systems of communication, each one a treasure trove of cultural and historical information. Transmitting that wealth of information from one language to another demands great care. I think Anthony Burgess summed it up perfectly when he wrote: “translation is not a matter of words only: it is a matter of making intelligible a whole culture.”

For the last 15 years I’ve taken great satisfaction in working to fulfil this aim, translating written texts as well as a wide variety of audiovisual content. I most enjoy working for the cultural sector – museums, galleries, film festivals and the like – and hold two master’s degrees, one in Translation from the University of Vienna and one in Audiovisual Translation from London’s Roehampton University, which qualify me to do just that.

I work with WinCaps Qu4ntum subtitling software, and can translate around 2000 words (or 30-40 minutes of video) per day.
